Companies with brand new websites need to understand that SEO and first page rankings will take time, usually, depending on your keywords, around 2-3 months.
Your Keywords
Going for highly competitive keywords with a brand new website is not going to happen as mentioned, your website has no authority with Google so they will not replace your website with an older, established website on their listings. The best way to precede with your SEO keywords is to select slightly less completive keywords. For example, if the keyword you want to be ranked for is ‘Web Design’ the best keyword to go for is ‘Small Business Web Design’. This is less competitive but still has a good amount of searches each month so it will be easier and quicker to be ranked for. This will make your site established on Google, and then you can go for more competitive keywords such as ‘Web Design’ after around 6 months of your SEO campaign starting.
Quality Content
The best way to get your site known to Google is by creating high quality, unique, relevant content on all the pages on your website. This is what Google wants to see when placing websites highly on their search results. Having a blog which is added to daily with latest news within your industry is a perfect way to make Google take note of your website.
Google Analytics
Have Google Analytics installed on all your pages so you are able to monitor what is happening when visitors are on your site. You can see what keywords users search for to find your website and more importantly, the bounce rate and how long people stay on your site. Ideally the average bounce rate should be no higher then 30%, if this is higher then i would suggest updating the layout and content on the page so people will stay on your site and visit other pages. The same applies to the time the user stays on your site. The average should be around 3 minutes, any lower than this, look for improvements.
