Should you have a blog for your website? Simple answer is yes! Google ranks websites highly now on how unique and relevant your content is in your website. If your website has 100′s of pages all well written about your industry and is 100% unique then Google will favour your website over a website that only has a few pages, eg, Home, About Us, Services etc.
What Should My Blog Contain?
You are the best person that knows about your business and the industry you are in so you should be the one that writes it. I would suggest having a minimum of 250 words per entry and try and write a quality blog daily. You can write you blog about absolutely anything to do with your business as long as the theme is the same throughout. It’s not going to do you much good if you are an Electrician and then write about accountants!
Points you can make within your blog can be latest news within your industry, like a new product that has come out or simply the work you have done on that day for a client. Now here is the important thing, you need to make sure your blog is 100% unique and you have not copied it from another website. Google hates duplicate content so make sure all the text has come from your own head. You can check to see if your content is unique on copyscape.com.
How is Having A Blog Good For Local SEO?
If you have read any of our previous posts you will now that you should be looking to rank your website for 5 keywords within your area. When writing your blog try to contain one of your keywords within your content, then link your keyword back to your home page. This shows Google what your website is about and what keywords you want to be ranked for.
What Not To Do With Your Blog
Do not source this out to another company. As mentioned, you know best about your company so you can write the highest quality content. Most content writers no nothing about your industry, so all they will do id few someone else’s blog in your industry and change some of the words or even spin the content. All though the content you will receive back will be unique, the chances are it will not be of any quality or even worse, not make any sense.
There are a few other blogs you can use such as Blogger and WordPress. The problem is, the content will not be within your domain name so your website is not growing with quality content, your Blogger or WordPress site is. Keep all content with your domain, even a sub domain is not your actual domain, it is classed as 2 different domains, eg, www.blog.yourwebsite.co.uk. instead use www.yourwebsite.co.uk/Blog/.

I really like looking at and I believe this website got some truly useful stuff on it! .
