Creating the Best Meta Description

Published on 22/11/2011 by in Local SEO

We will discuss how to create the best Meta Description for your website that will help rank highly on the search engines.

As mentioned in our previous blog, we will use adr-express.co.uk as an example. We said that in the Meta Title we need to include the companies main keyword and also have high quality supporting keywords, this applies to the Meta Description too. You cannot just spam your description with keywords, instead you need to write a high quality description that is relevant to your company that users will click on when they search for your phrase. If a user searched for ‘Next Day Courier Derby’ and adr-express.co.uk only offered a same day service, we do not want google to display this website in there results. So what is the best optimised Meta Description, it needs to include your keyword, as well as a good description about the company and the services they offer to attract users to click on the website. Here is what we have used for adr-express.co.uk on our Local SEO Package.

Courier Derby ADR Express Couriers offering the lowest price in Sameday Couriers Derby. 30 Min collection time. FREE Quotes available. Couriers in Derby.

We have not spammed the Meta Description with keywords, instead we have used high quality supporting keywords along with a good quality description about the companies services. Your Meta Description should be a maximum of 150 characters including spaces. Anymore then this will be cut off and you could lose vital information you would want to share with users.

With your Meta Keywords, i would only add a maximum of 5 for local SEO. These keywords need to be 100% relevant to your page. You can optimise you Meta Tags on other pages for different keywords but try and keep the same theme running through your website.
